Hatzalah Emergency Medical Services (EMS) of the Jersey Shore was officially established in January 2002, and we began responding to calls on March 1, 2003. Our coverage area encompasses 7 municipalities and spans over 10 square miles. Two of the major factors that led to the decision to establish a Hatzalah branch in the Jersey Shore area was to eliminate the issue of “border disputes” and to give relief to the overburdened local first aid squads. In some instances, patients waited over 30-minutes before help arrived. In many circumstances when emergency services are needed, seconds can be the difference between life and death. We needed to act. And so, Hatzalah of the Jersey Shore was born.

This summer we celebrate 14 years of service to the communities of the Jersey Shore! Proudly, we have grown into a mature and well-respected emergency service organization. Today our fleet consists of four state-of-the- art ambulances that are equipped with all the modern equipment we need. Our membership consists of over 50 trained and certified EMTs. Every member is fully outfitted with several thousand dollars worth of equipment including an oxygen and trauma bag, AED (automated external defibrillator) and a portable two-way radio. We recently added two state of the art ‘thumpers’, a tremendous asset when encountering a patient in cardiac arrest.

Over the past 15 years we have responded to approximately ten thousand calls – everything from minor sprains and bruises to potentially fatal strokes and heart attacks; from allergic reactions to automobile accidents; and from simple patient transports to helping bring a new child into our great world.

With our staff of professional, highly trained, and state certified volunteer emergency care providers, Hatzalah is more than just a 24-hour emergency medical service. It is an absolute, total commitment to the sanctity of life — the embodiment of the 2,000 year-old dictum that whoever saves even one life, it is as if he saved an entire world.

Hatzalah EMS of the Jersey Shore

Summer events and fundraisers are always geared towards specific age groups – kids, teens, adults, etc. Five years ago, a group of young men decided to start something new. We wanted to create an event that would cater to everyone – a fun-filled day for the entire community. After a lot of thought and discussion, we decided to create the annual Jersey Shore Hatzalah Carnival.

With lots of dedication and hard work, our spectacular committee worked tirelessly to ensure that our carnival is the most amazing event of the summer. From rides, games and a petting zoo, to BBQ, cotton candy and popcorn, our carnival has had anything you can imagine including an outdoor ice skating rink and a 200-foot long zip line!

Our goal is to unite the community for a day filled with fun, excitement and celebration; all in support of one of our community’s most amazing organizations – Hatzalah of the Jersey Shore. Hatzalah volunteers are on call 24/7/365. They selflessly dedicate their lives for the health and safety of our community.

Let’s all get together as a community on July 14th to show the Hatzalah volunteers how much we appreciate their amazing work. Can’t wait to see you all at the carnival!
